Scholarships for UCR population

What is the UCR population scholarship?

 

It consists of a support of the 100% exoneration in the first three courses in classroom learning mode. From the fourth course, a 20% exoneration is provided, granted by the IC-UCR to this population so that they can continue their Mandarin Chinese studies. However, this 20% exoneration does not apply to courses in virtual mode.

 

Who is the scholarship for?

 

The scholarship to the UCR population is aimed at: Administrative officials: Personnel appointed by the UCR for administrative tasks with a minimum of two years in the institution. Teaching staff: Staff appointed by the UCR with a minimum of two years at the institution. UCR students: Regular and active students from all UCR campuses and campuses with a current enrollment report.

 

What's the goal?

 

Provide greater access opportunity to the UCR population (administrative, teachers and students) to study the Mandarin Chinese language. This, in accordance with the principles of the statute of the University of Costa Rica, that has in its article 4 "Respect for the diversity of ethnic groups and cultures: recognize the multiethnic and multicultural character of Costa Rican society, promoting respect for the diversity of cultural traditions, ways of life and historical and cultural heritage” and article 7 that indicates “Planned university action: develop a planned university action in favor of continuous improvement to contribute to raising human development and the quality of life of the inhabitants of the country."

 

How to apply for the scholarship  category A (teachers and administrative staff)?

 

You must send the following documents to the email secretaria.confucio@ucr.ac.cr:

 

  1. Application letter addressed to Dr. Kuok Wa Chao Chao, Director of the Confucius Institute, with a justification of interest in the course.
  2. Personnel action document (must have at least ¼ allotted time).
  3. Minimum two years of working for the Institution (provide proof of ORH).
  4. Authorization letter from the Headquarters to attend classes if the lesson is during working hours.
  5. A passport size digital photograph.
  6. Photocopy of the identity card on both sides on a single page.

 

How do I apply for the scholarship  category B (UCR scholarship  students)?

 

You must send the following documents to the email secretaria.confucio@ucr.ac.cr:

 

  • •Application letter addressed to Dr. Kuok Wa Chao Chao, Director of the Confucius Institute, with a justification of the interest in the course (include the career they are studying and year of study they are in).
  • Send the copy (screenshot) of the active UCR category 4 or 5 scholarship found on the website https://ematricula.ucr.ac.cr
  • Copy of the Academic Record with a minimum grade of 8.5 in the total average.
  • Copy of enrollment report.
  • A passport size digital photograph.
  • Photocopy of the identity card on both sides on a single page.
  • Have completed at least 2 full semesters at UCR.

 

Important for any type of population scholarship UCR A or B

 

To renew the benefit of the UCR Population Scholarship each quarter, the person must send to the email secretaria.confucio@ucr.ac.cr:

 

  • Pass the Chinese-Mandarin course with a minimum grade of 80, otherwise you lose the benefit for the following course.
  • Send the copy (screenshot) of the active UCR category 4 or 5 socioeconomic scholarship found on the website https://ematricula.ucr.ac.cr
  • Have 100% attendance, in case of unjustified absence you lose the benefit for the next course.
  • Send a copy (screenshot) of the digital file where the continuous enrollment of the Mandarin courses is reflected (https://confucio.fundacionucr.ac.cr/ )

 

  

Please note that from the second Chinese course onwards that they enroll, they will only have an exemption of 20% of the enrollment fee.
